I love features such as these elegant railings and an ornate boot scraper, particularly when contrasted with the red brick pavement and the multicoloured bricks of the house. This frontage is charming, particularly in dappled sunlight.

But I hadn't noticed the pair of brass knobs attached to the side of the portico. What's all that about, I wonder?
