William, how Sweet you are!
--and the wild phlox, streaking the vistas of woods here and there with broad lines of lavender, seemingly bouquet the earth with blossoms in honor of the loveliest month of spring.
From "Nature-Notes and Impressions" by Madison Cawein
Once again. my blip is of wildflowers that I transplanted years ago from the woodlands to my yard. Each year, they reseed themselves more and more.
These are commonly called Sweet William. They are also known as Blue Phlox. They have a delightfully sweet scent and grow plentfully thru the woods in this area. They are certainly a welcome gift of spring!
Their 'given' name is 'Phlox Divaricata'.
