Ogres are like onions.

We always pass this fire hydrant on our walk. It reminds me of that part of Shrek where Donkey and Shrek talk about how Ogres are like onions, and Shrek says, "Onions have layers. Ogres have layers. Onions have layers. You get it? We both have layers."

What I mean is it reminds me of all the layers everyone has, but we are usually unaware of them. We usually just see the way a person is when we know them, and we don't realize all that it has taken for that person to get to a particular point in life.

This fire hydrant is just finally old enough to let all of his layers show and not have any problems with it.
