Prairie Fire

I thought you might like to see this . I'm not sure how widely available the Prairie Fire tree is, but it's a beauty in the Spring.
W planted them as saplings about 20 years ago. Once there were 4 now only 3. Behind them on the left are 4 California Redwoods that we planted at the same time.
Now, about the Prairie Fire. They are unique in the way the leaves progress throughout the year. First there is this magnificent fiery pink blossom, then a touch of green but very briefly then in full foliage the leaves are brown. When fall arrives and the other trees are starting to wither and the leaves turn reds and yellows the Prairie Fire leaves turn bright green.
Legend has it that the Prairie Fire is a distant cousin of the Burning Bush that Moses is said to have seen. Certainly at dawn and dusk they do look like they are on fire.
Hope you enjoy today's horticultural chat.
