Grey Heron in Flight
I spend about an hour taking dozens of shots of a family of Moorhens with seven chicks, when up pops this big chap.
I have been looking for a shot of a Heron for some time, and was reminded of DaveH shot of a flying Heron back on 16th April. Excellent.
I was delighted to catch this at long last.
FYI: The Grey Heron is approx 92cm from beak tip to toe. Lives on small fish, frogs and mammals. It has an approx wing span of 185cm. Adult birds generally weigh between 1-2kg.
Similar to Storks, these wading birds generally nest in trees.
