Looks Good To Me

A Sinking Feeling

C and I went to Costco today to stock up on essentials such as dog food (40lb bag), peanut butter, and vitamins. We hadn't been there for a long time, so instead of spending the usual $150 or so, the damage was $250. Oh well, it's all good stuff and we're helping the economy. I also own stock in Costco.

I was the designated shopper today, while C cruised the aisles to see what was new. She found a kitchen faucet by the German company Grohe. At first she said we needed it, but after further discussion when we got home, it was agreed that it was only "extremely desirable". Clutching for a straw, I said I thought it might dwarf our sink. The paper strip taped to the existing faucet and to a wine glass is C's mockup of the desired replacement. She wasn't deterred by the height.

I tried the conservation argument -- the current faucet functions well and replacement parts are free for as long as we own the house. I knew what the response to that would be -- we have a recycling store that will find a good home for it.

Tomorrow we'll go back to Costco. I'm already feeling twinges of pain in my back and neck, in anticipation of the time I'll be spending under the sink. C has promised to buy me lunch. I might be able to get a massage later, if all goes well.
