Spotted Thick-knee (Burhinus capensis)
They just never fail to amaze me!! Just look at him, he stood for long while I took nice shots, and then he decided to sit down!! I kind of like that most!! ;-)
Does the male change his colours in autumn? I am sure they looked very much alike the whole summer!? No, the one on the right is most probably a Water thick-knee (Burhinus vermiculatus), I can't really find a website regarding this one that will open tonight, they all seem to have problems at the moment, but the pictures I saw had the same colouring, but not that yellow thingy between the eye and the beak!?
BIG is somewhat better methinks!
LATE EDIT:
Aha, thank you my dear Z (MissU2), you identified it for me!! Só great to have someone who cares enough to help when I am a bit tired/lazy? The bird sitting in the picture is an African Wattled Lapwing!
