Zsolnay tiles

This is one of the many elaborate roofs on the neo-Gothic Budapest buildings to be clad with Zsolnay pyrogranite tiles. The tiles are a distinctive feature of the city, and come in a vast range of glistening colours.

The Zsolnay factory was established in 1800 in Pécs,in the south west of Hungary, where there now is a fascinating museum.
