I Knew...

....this would be my favorite picture of the several I took today because of the 2 little wild pieces going off to the left. What catches my eye? Don't know but it's always a surprise. I'd like to know what plant this is. It has survived the winter. I'm going to return for a picture this summer to see what it was.

Any smarty-pants out there that know what it is??
