Lanceleaf
Lanceleaf springbeauty (Claytonia lanceolata). Spotted today as my husband climbed 'Cruel Shoes' on Striped Rock at City of Rocks, Almo, Idaho. I'd love to learn the names of more wildflowers. This is one of the first flowers to make a spring appearance. The corms (underground tubers) were a favorite food of Native Americans. Marmots and bears also eat them. Sometimes referred to as the Indian potato.
