1st hoverfly shot of the year
A wander around the Edinburgh Botanics this afternoon. A nice enough way to spend an hour or so and it gave me a chance to get out the macro lens and dust off the ring flash. There's a fair bit of macro interest around the rock garden area but not too much elsewhere yet. Sure that will change in a month or so.
I'd give up all hope of any decent insect shots until I came across this little hoverfly. I stalked him on the same bit of tree for a good 10 minutes until he got fed up. At one point he even landed on the ring flash. Didn't get any decent in-flight shots but it's early in the year yet!
