Calton Hill Panorama
Today was a day of apathy. I had planned originally to head out to the Falkirk wheel but when your car struggles to reach double figures MPG then you tend to think twice about an 80 mile round trip just to take a few pics. Then I decided on the Botanics, but it was too windy! Windy is the natural enemy of the macro photographer. A couple mm of focus is hard enough but impossible when the subject matter is being blown about. So, a quick hour on Calton Hill it was.
The new tripod is coming into it's own though doing shots like this. This is a 9 shot panorama. 9 RAW files shot in portrait format, all converted to HDR and then stiched in CS4. The crop down was minimal as the tripod made a pretty good job of keeping everything on the level. Most impressed, despite my aching arm muscles carrying it about.
Botanics tomorrow, wind permitting.
