Another Day

Birthday Girl

This is Dups, sitting on a rock above Constant Bay, at Charleston, where schooners used to moor in the Gold Rush Days which started in 1867. There was a population of 30,000 people, and there were 99 Hotels in the area. Now there are very few people living there, and none of the old hotels exist.
It was Dups birthday, and we decided to do something different. We went on this wonderful trip with Underworld Rafting. We were taken on a small train called 'Dorothy' through the bush for about 2 kms, and then we were given our bag with wet suit etc, life jackets and helmet with a light, a rubber inner tyre, and set off a long a track, across a swing bridge, and then climbed 137 steps up into some Limestone Caves. It was just magical to be in the very large caves, and see the stallectites and stallecmites that were formed over millions of years. We then got on our rubber tyres and floated down looking at all the glow worms. Eventually we left magical land, and came out of the caves and entered the Nile River where we travelled down the river and over some small rapids, doing the round trip and ending up back at the Swing Bridge.
We had an awesome day. We could not take our cameras, and we just enjoyed 'seeing' for the day.
