On the Edge

We were not only on the edge of a very high cliff at Constant Bay, but on edge because yesterday we called into a cafe and booked ourselves on a kiwi Underworld experience!
It's my Birthday today and thought it would be fun to do something outside of our comfort zone! which is mostley getting into a wetsuit!!, alright for someone size 10 and under!!

We arrived back at the cafe at 12am for our brief and was soon out the back being handed the dreaded suit, booties, paddle gloves, lifejacket, hat with a light on the front by our giude. we then drove to a little train called Dorothy who took us along a 2km track though native bush, to our changeing area which turned out to be the platform!, us 5 girls huddled behind a very small fence, the back of a seat, while the boys changed in front.
Terrible things to get into wetsuits!! and equally difficult to get out off as we discovered the other end of our trip!
The next challenge came soon after, we were handed a large Innertube each and headed off up a track and over a swing bridge and up 137 steps! to the top off the high limestone cliffs.
On entering we turned on our lights and soon were rewarded with the amazeing sight of Stallectites, Stallecmites & Columns our guide was very informative it was lovely to see the caves in there natural state.
We moved on & arrived at an underground stream, which we had to launch ourselves onto our tubes!! we linked up and our guide steered us along in total darkness, high on the roof of the cave Glow worms lit up like a galaxy of stars, 2 hours went past too fast and it wasn,t long before we came to the end of the caves only to see beautiful green bush high above us.
A short walk to the river Nile then saw us launching ourselves back on the Tubes and heading for a rapid!! in single file for a photo shoot! then on down the river towards the swing bridge.
Back at the platform getting out off a wet suit was the hardest part!!!!
The whole experience was fantastic, a real Birthday treat.
