Grey Wagtail 3
Finally managed to get much closer to one of the flying wagtails (Motacilla cinerea) today! And it had its wings open.
Took many, many shots (and there may be a blipsnap). Quite liked this one with the spread tail. The pair would fly over the water, snapping up mayflies and midgies until they had a massive beakfull, then back to the nestlings with the spoils. Incredible aerobatic skills, twisting and darting over the water.
Later, at the docks, I saw that the Common Terns had arrived back from Southern Africa, and the housemartins are here, too. Proper summer birds :)
