Wot, No Grub?
The intoxication I feel at the end of our holiday in Boat of Garten is all down to the effect of the highland air, and has nothing at all to do with the gin & tonics I have been consuming over the last week.
Whereas at the beginning of the week I was able and willing to jump out of bed at cock- a -doodle time, now towards the end, I'm incapable of any early acrobatics and am very happy to lie a-bed until I smell the toast burning, which means his Lordship is up and about.
After yesterday's hard work watching the grandchildren exhaust themselves, it was as much as we could do to get on the bikes and do a 20 mile cycle round by Carrbridge, Dulnain Bridge, Nethy Bridge and back to Boat of Garten for the obligatory coffee and scone.
The weather is perfect for cycling, warm, no wind and hazy sunshine.
On a back road at Carrbridge I looked round to see these 3 heads peering over the top of their barn gate.... blip sorted.
This afternoon we are off to Coylum Bridge and Loch an Eilean, but absolutely no visit to the garden centre at Inschriach with the cakes to die for and the bird viewing tables. That's for the next visit.
A Lord and Lady can have too much of a good thing, especially as they are going for a valedictory meal at their self appointed 5* restaurant in Boat of Garten tonight and must work up an appetite in order to do justice to the food.
