Picnic at the Tree of Good Value

We pass this uprooted tree a lot when we're walking the dog in the afternoon or evening. The girls like to climb in it and Mr Smith has pointed out what a great cheap day out it is. Hence the name we've bestowed on it.

It's a nice quiet spot, so we thought we'd take a picnic with us today and watch the world go by.

Eventually a couple strolled by with a golden retriever and her two pups. This dog is quite famous in our local area and we were interested to meet her for the first time. Having been rescued, her new owner found out she was pregnant. She gave birth to 11 pups as we welcomed in the new year. Since hearing the story months ago, we've met several of the pups on our walks, so it was great to meet the mother at last. The owners managed to find homes for 9 of the pups and couldn't bear to part with two of them.

A lovely meeting and a good value afternoon.
