Green and yellow fields

Went for a lovely walk with the bouncy dog today. It was hot hot hot out, but luckily most of our walk was in the shade of trees along the edge of the fields, and through bluebell woods.

There were lots of Bombus lapidarius bumbling around among the dry leaves on the floor of the woods. I wonder if they were nest-hunting or were workers foraging. They seemed a little smaller and much quicker-moving than the queens I have been seeing.

No bee pic today cos every one I tried to take ended up as a nondescript blur.
