Angel of the North

One of the most impressive and appropriate pieces of public art I have seen. The Angel of the North overlooks the A1 motorway near Gateshead in England, it stands 20m tall and has a wingspan of 54m. The regions shipbuilding heritage is reflected in the steel ribbing which is integral to the angels design. I absolutely love it, especially up close, when its sheer scale and also its texture can be fully appreciated. If you're driving past and have never seen it up close then I recommend you to do so!
