Szechenyi Lanchid
Budapest's famous Chain Bridge, designed by an Englishman and built by a Scotsman. Completed in 1849, it was the first permanent link between Buda and Pest. Luckily it survived attempts by the Austrians to blow it up during the War of Independence.
Today has been a bit of a day: delayed flight, luggage abducted from the airport carousel, wrong hotel booked by travel agent, got lost walking round backstreeets, and drenched by downpour by time I made it to the Chain Bridge.
But all well now thanks to discovery of Hungarian Pear Brandy after an excellent supper.
Jó éjszakát!
