canoefest day 1

time again for my favorite holiday of the year - canoefest!

going to be a small one this year i think - 11 people only this year. life is so busy these days, what with jobs, people moving, babies, and so forth. i'm happy we landed 11 this year at all.

joined adam and kristie this year for a 'pre-fest' day on the river. the three of us went out for the day, and scored another canoefest first - getting picked up before reaching camp. a new record in slowness!

to be fair, there was a storm on the horizon, and we were given the option to paddle back or hitch a ride. we were excited to see the others at camp, and so opted to load up.

got this one of kristie after her lovely landing on shore - she found the mucky spot and ended up seated in it when all was said and done. she was so buried, it took two of us to fish her out.

speaking of which, broke my two-year curse today - finally caught some fish at canoefest this year. two small red-eye, but hey, that's a curse lifted in my book!
