Caraguaratuba Beach

We traveled to the beach town of Caraguaratuba for some time away from the city. There is a Brazilian holiday Thursday and many families, like ours make a weekend out of it. The weather was not as wonderful as hoped, it is heading into winter here in the southern hemisphere, so there were few people for the beachside restaurants or beach-going vendors. I was struck by how the umbrella and man at the ice cream cart and the umbrella and hardy vacationer at the tables echo one another.

There is little more forlorn than a beach community when the weather is crummy.
