Steinway for Alfred Brendel

This day, @ViolaMaths invited me to go with her to Birmingham to hear Alfred Brendel deliver a lecture on style and interpretation. The lecture included musical illustrations played by Brendel with great aplomb.

Here is the scene just seconds before Brendel came on stage at the Town Hall. The fine Steinway you see made a most splendid sound!

The lecture was fascinating, and Brendel is still an excellent showman.

We preceded the lecture by a spot of nourishment: Nasi Goreng for both of us, and extra Sambal Oelek for me. An enjoyable day out, despite some upsets for my companion earlier in the day.
