United Behind Bafana Bafana
The opening game of the Soccer World Cup 2010 will take place on Friday 11 June, between South Africa and Mexico.
We were all called upon to take to the streets at 12 noon today, with our flags and vuvuzelas, in a of show support for our national soccer team: Bafana Bafana. The team was paraded through the streets of Johannesburg in an open-top bus, cheered on by THOUSANDS of fans. Organisers expected around 50 000 supporters in the Sandton area alone... the fnal figures far exceeded expectations! Businesses in the North of Jhb closed their doors for the afternoon, allowing their employees the chance to be part of the action.
We live in the South of Jhb, so we weren't really in the thick of things, but that doesn't mean that we're lacking World Cup spirit in any way! We all drive around with flags out our car windows, mirror covers on our rear view mirrors and some of us even drive around with vuvuzelas on the back seat.
This picture was taken of the front of our house as I pulled into the driveway this afternoon... World Cup fever is running high:)
