David Balfour and Alan Breck Stewart
Towards the end of his novel "Kidnapped", Stevenson has the two main characters saying farewell on Corstorphine Hill - after many adventures in the Highlands.
I like this statue - larger than life, and with meticulous detail. I have a slight acquaintance with the sculptor. It stands now by busy Corstorphine road where buses, taxis and cars hurtle by in high volume. But you feel that David and Alan - returned from their wanderings on sea and land - are way above such petty surroundings.
