Fedora
My blip photo of the day is my Liam proudly wearing the new hat he just HAD to have! We were renting a movie from the Redbox last night in a grocery store and he came upon this hat. He continued to talk about it the whole night and into today. We went back to return the movie and he comes with his money in hand. Well, as you can see he is a happy little man in his new purchase---a fedora! :D It was such a strange concept to me that we purchased a hat from the grocery store. I think the main reason he wanted it is because of a person on the most recent season of Survivor who always wore a hat like that. Considering we are Survivor fans, I'm guessing that's where his inspiration came from...if only it hadn't been the 'villain' Russell in Survivor.
We spent the morning running errands, frantically trying to find someone who could get us new glasses for Loren----STAT! We started out at his eye doctor who said they just couldn't get them ordered and shipped in time for the Tournament of Champions by this weekend. They directed us to Lenscrafters who does the lens cutting on-site and could get us a new pair in an hour. After much deliberation over frames, 1 hour and $250 later...Loren had a new pair. While they were being made, we hung around the mall for a while...mainly in Barnes and Nobles checking out books. I can't remember the last time I've visited a mall, considering I'm not much of a shopper. The boys were treated by their Nana to a lunch of 'mall food' of fish n' chips and chicken wings which they thoroughly enjoyed. We had taken her for a medical test in the a.m. and so we hung out together during errands around town.
The evening was spent with Loren's baseball and Liam's gymnastics. I was torn between the two places...so I drove back and forth this evening. Considering gymnastics ends at 7:30 and Landon was stalking everyone at the vending machine there, I had to consider a late dinner. I had to tell him several times to stop asking people at the vending machine for food. It was quite embarrassing. Their dinner tonight, however, made THEM very pleased. It consisted of frozen yogurt topped with sour gummy worms right next door to gymnastics. Yes, they were shocked at that offer and didn't believe me at first until we walked into the yogurt shop. Mom of the Year Award tonight goes to Tonya----NOT!!!
I finally sent them to bed reading tonight, considering Liam has to complete a book log over the summer and Loren has tried to glue himself to his new laptop. I'm trying to prevent their brains from turning into mush. Not much success tonight, though, because I walked into Liam's room and I noticed his book light still on and resting on his tummy while he was snoring away. I think he only lasted 5 minutes into his Boxcar Children Series before giving into slumber. Better luck with the reading and completing the "While Daddy Was Away" Journal tomorrow!
