Fiesta
Today my adopted town is celebrating it's yearly fiesta. I took a stroll around the plaza and looped around the makeshift booths covered in blue tarp, their storekeepers most likely still asleep after a late night. Red and yellow plastic banners, compliments of the largest local beer company, flap like waving hands asking passersby to come and take part in the festivities. Decorated floats getting last minute touch-ups are parked by the church ready for the morning motorcade. Hawkers are starting to roll out into the street selling anything from popcorn to inflatable toys. And of course, the unmistakable aromas of barbecued pork and chicken whiffs across the road towards me. This is my sleepy town, Silay, for a few days out of 365, we are awake.
