Scavenger

On the way back from nursery we happened upon a seagull feasting on a pigeon. Or part of a pigeon, run over by a car no doubt.

If you look closely you can see bits of this seagull's food on the roof of the car and around its beak. I didn't know that seagulls would eat fellow birds but then they seem to eat anything so it would figure.

Seeing part of a dead animal triggered lots of questions from the girls including "What does a dead person look like?" and "What if you die laughing, what do you look like then?" For L dying seems to be a bit like a film stopping - I don't know if I was able to properly describe what it looked like but there will be more questions no doubt.

The discussion of death and the impact it has on children continued in the evening, I still thank my parents that they kept me informed during that year when I was 6 and my sister finally able to go.
