Stump grinding

Here in the Hills outside of Perth, there are some species of gum tree that grow so well that they can become a pest. At our local church this week, we chopped down 4 large trees that were becoming a hazard for drivers, gardeners, gutters and a worry for fire. This chap is grinding out the stump to stop it regrowing, otherwise they shoot back again very quickly. It seems to me to be a harsh, but necessary, part of the process. All this wood will find its way onto parishioners gardens and then their stoves next year after it has dried out.
