We've come a long way. And that is not always a good thing.

I watch old black and white Arabic films, see Cairo in the 50s and 60s, see the way people dressed, the way they spoke and danced, the clean streets, the beauty of the city, and sometimes it's hard to believe that I live in that very same city.

This lamp is one of the few remnants in my neighbourhood that is a reminder of what once was.
