This view of the platforms on above railway station in the southern suburbs of Amsterdam is livened up by the yellow and blues of a double decker train at a far platform. Until a few years ago, Amsterdam Bijlmer used to be a two-platform station where only stopping services called. It's now a major interchange on the railways into Amsterdam and to Schiphol Airport, 8 miles to the west.
