Shelter
He spend his days lazily munching on lost flies and cohabitant spiders. His house dull and grey underneath a big metallic building. Then, one day, the rains came, the thunder, the lightning. It rained so hard that his house slowly filled with water, until he felt he couldn't stay there any longer.
'I must evacuate', he said to himself. He hopped outside, but the lightning blinded him, and the thunder made him dizzy ... In a blind panic he ran towards what looked like a dry spot.
'Oh' said the woman in a surprised voice,'what are YOU doing here?' And she picked him up, before the door was blown shut by the wind, with him caught in the middle, before he could run outside again.
For a short while he sat in a cardboard box, quietly, hoping he'd be able to escape soon, but then he was picked up again, box and all.
He heard the woman singing as she carried him:
'Come in, she said, I'll give you
shelter from the storm'
And then his box opened and he saw the grey ... but what was that? Was he sitting on GRASS? His heart beating fast, his head spinning with joy and happiness he checked again. Yes, real grass!
He turned half way to not-quite look at the woman, before he hopped away, his new future just across the puddle.
Then again, it might have confused the poor thing so that he'll spend weeks trying to come to grips with his new surroundings. But ... my story, my happy ending :)
