To Chicago

So after dodging the thunder storms at East Harbor State Park, we set off on a 280 mile drive to Chicago.

There is really not a lot to see and do on some of these roads. Thankfully the car is comfy, air conditioned and the satellite radio is providing some good tunes.

Fuel is dirt cheap in America. We filled up our 13 gallon Ford Focus for around £26. Presumably it's so cheap because the US government don't have so much tax on fuel. But what they lack in tax on fuel, each state seems to make up for on toll roads. It was toll after toll after toll today. We could avoid the toll roads, the sat nav gives us that option, but it would add on quite a bit to an already long journey.

A bit of me is very excited and a bit of me is dreading our 8 hour drive through Nebraska on Monday.
