Chicago Skyline
The day started wet and miserable. Thunder and lightening filled the air. The rain was probably the heaviest rain I have ever seen. We battled through it and got the bus in to town.
Several hours and several shops later the sun came out and dried up all the rain and Chicago's true personality was brought out.
The buildings in Chicago are works of art. The skyline seems perfectly fit together. We spent the afternoon in the 30 plus degrees of Millennium Park before wandering up to Navy Pier.
Navy Pier at the centre of Chicago has an amazing atmosphere. Imagine a good version of Blackpool (or Cadona's for those of you in Aberdeen).
After an American sized dinner, the hot and humid air resulted in more thunder storms, the craziest weather I have ever experienced. There were rumours going around Navy Pier of a tornado, and a quick check of Twitter did indeed confirm a tornado warning had been issued for down town Chicago, due to hit where we were at 6.05pm.
6.05 came and went, the rain was wild, the lightening lit up the whole of the black sky and the thunder was almost defining, but thankfully no tornado. We passed the time by watching Toy Story 3 in the IMax, and by the time the film was over the rain had cleared but the lightening remained on the horizon.
A fantastic day in a fantastic city. And by the way, Toy Story 3 is probably the best one yet.
