March of the Aphids

Sounds like an episode of Dr Who, doesn't it? I'm not sure of the scientific name for these little beasts, I'm assuming they're aphids, and my instincts tell me they're not too healthy for the roses!

Within about two square feet of the rose garden today I saw loads of these guys, as well as greenfly and dark red coloured aphids. All reproducing at a great rate if the number of young ones is anything to go by. The rose buds they were on were all covered in sticky honeydew. Sometimes things that look beautiful at arms length look a bit more ugly close up :)





Best viewed in large, though I really should have done something about the noise. Ah well...
