Ashes

Today I headed out early to play a golf match but was against a much better player in a scratch comp and she knocked me out the comp.

After I grabbed a shower and headed up with friends (in the back of this lovely old convertible) to scatter my friend's ashes.

Her husband had organised small containers for friends and family to take on a walk into the woods with a poem and prayer. A group of 6 of us from our small group struck out together and we stopped by a tall silver birch tree and a beautiful flowering purple rhododendron bush. Together the poem was read and a passage from Romans. Then we scattered the ashes and committed them.

Together we walked back to one of the friends houses for cream teas! There were many different groups who did this. It was a privilege to be able to carry out our friends wishes as she enjoyed many walks here especially when she was ill.
