Bang goes the Baby Proofing

Since Lyra learned to stand up, my role shifted from plain old mother to health and safety extraordinaire.

Upon entering a room my first port of call is a thorough risk assessment.

Lyra is drawn inexplicably to pull herself to standing using only the most rickety of objects, preferably sporting sharp corners jutting out at impossible angles. She is also on the constant lookout for unsuitably toxic, precious or breakable items that can be placed in her mouth.

I thought I had successfully baby-proofed our living room but bang goes the baby proofing as Lyra crawled up to the fire place and proceeded to eat the decorative stones.
