Salami and friends....

I love this kind of shop. I don't know if cheesemongers looked quite like this in days of yore where there was a choice between Cheddar and Leicestershire, cooked meat meant boiled ham, and cured meat wasn't available.

I seem to remember that they alway did look attractive. But our increasing cosmopolitanisation (asmore and more went abroad for other reasons than fighting wars) did affect the presentation of places like this.

On the left a lovely salami is surrounded by some clever ornamentation - looks foody, but isn't.

The shop is now in serious competition with others close by - much larger and better known. But I rather think this one is holding its own nicely!
