Sweetfern

This is my good friend Sharon Shattuck.

We met three years ago teaching together up here in Northeren Michigan at the biological station. Sharon is a local here, a native of Petoskey, though today she lives in Brooklyn New York.

Like me she is a big time science nerd. Her specialty is plants. Having worked in Panama with the Smithsonian, with the Field Museum in Chicago, and most lovingly closer to home amongst the shy dune plants along the shores of Lake Michigan she is a botanist without bounds.

Also like me, Sharon grows weary of "science" for science sake. Where's the mystery, wheres the creativity, wheres the wonder, and where is the accessibility to the public? I guess you could say we are both scientists with aspiring creative passions to educate and inspire outside the box.

These passions are now converging in a very awesome way. For over a year now we have been talking about starting a science media production company: film, photography, animation, writing, radio. Now we are finally getting started on our big dream. Finally in the same place with me back from Ecuador and her finished with film school at NYU and the premier of her first film its all coming together.

My new "business" partner and our new project. Introducing Sweetfern Productions: Science Media for a New Generation!

We're just getting started but have some great feedback so far. Accepting ideas. Tell us what you think.....
