Hungry heron
I enjoyed two delightful hours at North Chagrin Reservation this morning and captured over 200 butterfly, bee, birds, and blossom blips. Most of that time was focused (no pun intended) on two herons, a Great Blue and a green heron. The green heron is the first one I have seen this summer, but he wouldn't come close enough for a completely satisfying photo opp. The Great Blue heron was preoccupied with finding fish. He is such a large bird, and his appetite must be huge. I imagine the little fish are terrified when he shows up in their habitat. The blip above shows how satisfied he is when he has something in his tummy, but I thought you might be interested in his fishing technique. It looks like this:

It has been a wonderful day in Northeast Ohio. Lots of sunshine and a perfect temperature. The only downside is that the news and weather people keep warning us of the torrid temps and high humidity that are coming our way over the holiday weekend <sigh>. I hope they don't last long. It's Friday night. The weekend has arrived. Here's wishing a wonderful weekend to all of you and a Happy Independence Day to you blippers who live in the USA.
