Tarbert
Day one of our west coast break in Tarbert, Argyll at the north end of the Kintyre Peninsula. The British Board of Film Classification had a very interesting use for this area of Scotland apparently... as it appears on the map anyhow!
This is new territory for us having never visited the area previously but the intention is to use it as a base to do some touring and island hopping. And whisky drinking.
Arrived late afternoon after an enjoyable drive on very quiet roads and a lunch stop in Inveraray. The cottage we're staying in for the week sits high on a hillside, has fantastic views over the village and harbour area and out across Loch Fyne and has been built to make the best of this with the main sitting room on the upstairs level. A bit of a climb to get up here though (to the cottage itself, not just the upstairs), even in a car, but after a couple of Buds and carrying a traditional Scottish Indian take-away meal for six it's a fair slog on foot. Heather's worst fears that there'd be no shops within miles haven't come true and she seems happier that there's at least some signs of the developed world within walking distance. Euan's more than happy as he's got his wee pal with him and the pair of them are encamped in front of the HD telly with an Xbox playing some gratuitous zombie killing game.
No broadband for the week though so it looks like there's going to be a bit of back-blipping done on these posts, which is a bit of a pain as this Friday should be my first blip birthday...
