Storm
After last night's 'settling-in' (mostly involving lots of alcohol and a bit of a chin-wag around the dining table with good friends) this morning's walk around the village in the sunshine was the perfect cure for a bit of a woolly head.
The natural harbour that the village is built around looks to still be a busy fishing port, and there's been a lot of money spent recently doing the place up it would seem. We walked from the cottage down past the church and around the harbour to where the ferry sails off to Cowal. The castle in the picture here (atop the hill on the right) is in the process of being reconstructed and is partly closed off so we decided to save that for another day. A nice three mile round trip on foot and back for some lunch after which we said 'bye to a couple of chums that had stopped off with us overnight, then settled down to watch England being outplayed (gubbed) by Germany.
They say that if you don't like the weather in Scotland then wait five minutes; this evening being a case in point. Just as the football was finished the heaven's opened and the thunder and lightning kicked in. As this shot shows, you could see the rain literally coming down in sheets over Loch Fyne. Still, it kept the midges away for a bit...
