10 for 20
My blip today cost me 10 Philippine Pesos. That would be about a quarter dollar. Fairly priced for twenty goldies. Introducing the famed Pinoy fishballs - one favorite streetfood in the Philippines.
I almost forgot to take some photos when I saw the vendor dunking scoop after scoop of starchy white mixture into a pot of simmering vegetable oil. These little golden balls are made of a combination of flour, fish flavoring, scallions and god-knows-what-secret-ingredient.
A second after the vendor poured a generous amount of sweet chili sauce (see how it drips), I took a picture of it eventhough I was helplessly drooling about them. There were other customers around waiting for their turn but I just have to take the perfect shot of this on top of the vendor's mobile-kitchen. Perfectly deep-fried fishballs with homemade sweet hotsauce tickling your tongue is a great snack on a lazy Sunday afternoon.
Oh well. There is no turning back now. These little golden fishballs are now just a figment of my palate's memory. Till next time... tata :)
