Carol: Rosie & Mr. Fun

The Holiday Weekend Ends

This was the final view of our holiday weekend. It's definitely fuzzy; my cheapie point-and-shoot was struggling to capture enough light, but for tonight, this will be fine. It's been a bit of a fuzzy weekend.

My day started when Mr. Fun woke me this morning to hand me the phone. Our adult daughter was on the other end crying . . . they are dealing with the sadness that I mentioned here Friday. I just listened and she just talked. More than an hour later we hung-up. I don't know that I help her, except talking often helps to process.

Later in the day, she phoned to say that she and her hubby were out shopping. They are excited that little Tristan arrives this week. They know he'll need summer clothing to go to family camp with the two of us, so they were trying to take the focus from their sorrow. I could hear in her voice the joy she was experiencing.

Several hours later she phoned to say they were coming over to bring the things they had purchased. What fun we all had as she showed us the items they had purchased -- spiderman underpants and swimming trunks and t-shirts and a hooded sweatshirt. They also purchase a basket filled with beach toys and a fire truck to play with here at the house.

I had dinner cooked and ready to eat as they arrived here, but the two of them had already eaten so they stayed and kept us company while we ate dinner. Then after they left we cleaned-up the dinner dishes and decided to sit in the spa for a little while as the day turned to night.

The next three days I will again work in the Writing Center at the campus and then Tristan, our great-grandson, and his mommy arrive this Thursday afternoon. We are so excited. This coming Sunday the four of us will leave to spend the week at family camp on Catalina Island.

Good night from Southern California.
