John Adams rose

This rose is not called John Adams, but it was given to me by my dear friend John Adams. John is an expert in growing old fashioned roses, his garden at Withyed Cottages has many beautiful examples. He said that this rose would be different from the other plants I have in my garden and he is right. The heavily scented fat blooms grow in bunches of four or five, their tightly wound petals are an intense pink in the centre, fading to almost white at the edges.

It's quite hardy and robust, its only requirement a bit of rose fertiliser and plenty of water. But if the soil around the plant dries out it sulks and its buds drop off.
