And Then There Were Two

Ela had left for Warsaw on the overnight train and Martina had left the day before to continue on her own holiday further up the coast. Maja and I checked out of Uncle Mirek's flat on Sunday morning; packed the car up and drove to Sopot, stopping along the way, so that she could cast her vote for the Polish Presidential election. Sopot was rammed with people, so my photos of the pier, The Grand Hotel and packed beaches didn't make the blip-cut. It's the most upmarket of the trojemiasto - which means three towns - Gdansk, Sopot and Gdynia - all joined together in their proximity to eachother.

We had a mooch along the beach, stopped for a late brunch and walked the length of the pier, before moving north to Gdynia and spending an hour or two there. A nice marina area sees the ferries from Hel, (would love to go there!) Gdansk and Sopot arrive and depart, and lots of locals enjoying the sunshine. We sat on the harbour wall, eating Gofry - another must-have speciality; Waffles with cream and fresh fruit. Double Yum.

We found our digs for our final night of our holiday. A nice big spacious house, its owners capitalising on the nearby festival, renting their spare room to those who didn't fancy camping! It was less than 5 mins from what was possibly the best beach of the holiday. We caught the final hour of sunshine, lying at the water's edge and reluctantly peeled ourselves away to go and change and head for the last night of the festival. This time a shorter train journey to the main station in Gydnia...
