from far away
Whilst it fits with the vaguely internationally multiculturality of the drinks fridge at the mosque kitchen, Bundaberg ginger beer is significantly inferior to Fentiman's and is bound to incur a far greater environmental cost if it's imported from an antipode in heavy glass bottles rather than just trundled up from the north-east of England. If they feel that Fentiman's bottles are too small then Old Jamaica comes in largish volumes, is shipped in plastic and is reasonably tasty despite the relative cheapness. At least there was also a form of mango juice rather than mango drink available today even if it wasn't my favourite type of mango juice.
As most people attending David77 memorial mosque-luncheon had no pressing business to attend to in the afternoon people was still sitting around the table on their second ginger beer until half-past two. Thereafter a number of us trundled slowly and chattingly northwards through the bustle and faff of tourists and shoppers before having a sit and a coffee besides the curious mix of folk walking along Leith Walk. There is such a thing as a vaguely responsible ned/jakey, at least judging by the example of the one we saw putting the lid back on the bin he had swerved unsteadily across the pavement towards to rootle through, though I doubt the reason for him wearing no upper-body clothing was so that his sleeves didn't get bin-juice all over them.
