House at the bottom of the bridge...
Today we decided that we'd pay Deep Sea World, hailed as "Scotland's national aquarium", a visit. It was infested by hoardes of little people who did their best to annoy their adult companions in every way they could. I saw them stick their heads up inside the adults shirts, kick over their pushchairs and even run away. I saw them duck in between the legs of other adults even if they were sporting walking sticks, they practiced ballet moves and gymnastic routines while holding onto the rails around the tanks and when finally captured they screamed at the top of their voices and waved their little feet in the air as their adults carried them away.
Those were the well behaved ones!
The others ran amok doing all of the above with impunity. Their adult "supervisors" only ever passed out a cursory "sorry" when they got a really filthy look from another, really p****d off adult.
There was also growing evidence of increasing levels of illiteracy in the population. Not only did the "national" aquarium opt to use the biblical version of the plural of the word fish (fishes), a significant number of people seemed to be unable to read the words "No Smoking". Of course, we could have reported it as the sign said, but even if we had wanted to the bit of the sign that told you who to speak to was blank. (Not sure if that is evidence that they couldn't write the name, or if it's evidence that someone could, but didn't want to know so they rubbed it out...).
Still, if nothing else came from it, the daughter was convinced of the benefits of the proper use of contraception!
Anyway, after we left we stood for a while and looked over the water and the boating pond at this. Saw a few ducklings with their mum behaving in a much more orderly fashion. However, was not impressed to see muck floating in there too. Always thought this was a weird place to build a house. (The monster behind it is not some friendly transformer, it's the base of the Forth Rail Bridge at North Queensferry). Now I'm convinced!
