Abernethy anthill
Had intended to go cycling today but we were totally shattered after our kayaking yesterday that we opted for a leisurely lunch and a stroll through the woods at Abernethy.
Apart from the ospreys at the Loch Garten reserve (always worth a visit) and getting overexcited about a chaffinch in the car park (we rarely see such 'common' garden birds in the isles) we barely saw any birds. But we did see a wee lizard sunning itself on a rock and then practically fell into this anthill.
Edit - just found out that these are Wood ants and are fairly rare in Britain.
