Two Dragonflies
Not perfect, but it's not very often you see two on one twig. The lower one is a Widow Skimmer, Libellula luctuosa, and the upper one is a Flame Skimmer Libellula saturata. They are very territorial with their own species. Strangely enough, they don't seem to mind sharing resting spots and potential feasts with other species.
It was very hot today. The dragonflies loved it, but I didn't. There was also a mother mallard duck with some very young ducklings. I was all set up for dragonflies, and didn't get any good shots of the ducks. It seems awfully late in the season for new babies.
